The Strength of Words
First of all, I would like you to know that my life doesn't revolve around English class and I am in no mood to think deeply at the moment so if my essay is lame I apologize in advance. Right there is an example of the power of words. What I just wrote could either offend you or not. You could take it as: "Oh, she is such a terrible, horrible awful student because she doesn't love writing essays on subjects that require deep thinking about serious and (once again, I apologize if I cause offense) utterly BORING topics!" Or, you could choose the alternative and take it as: "Whatever. THis kid is just the average tenth grader who thinks writing essays in which no student actually spends time thinking about is a waste of life. No big deal" See, my words could have caused you to make judgements about my character. You now, based on my words, probably think I'm a lazy, lame teenager who has no intelligent thoughts. Words can influence how someone judges someone else. Look, right there you probably judged my character again. And if you in fact did not then, you surely did just now. And there, you probably did it again! And again there, and again, and again... and again...... and.... again.........
