Hiding Something...

Sometimes because of pride or ego or a mistaken idea, one person may not confide in another or tell them the whole truth. Have you ever been in a situation in which you didn’t want the other person to know something about you? You had something you wanted to keep secret? How did you act? Did the other person realize you were hiding something? How did your behavior change the way they acted toward you?

The other day me and my friend were planning to covince my mother to let us have a sleepover, (its really hard to get her to say yes) so we were writing her a cheesy persuasive letter to convince her. we were printing it out and when she came into the room. We didnt want her to know about it yet and the printer was really loud so we started singing at the top of out lungs so she wouldnt suspect anything. It worked and she just left the room thinking we were crazy.

Later, she and my brothers and sisters wanted to watch a movie so they came into the room again so immididatly i sat on the paper so she wouldnt see it. Then she asked me to get up and turn on the movie. So my friend grabbed the paper so my mom wouldnt see it. Then she sat on it. It was really hard to make her not see the paper this whole time. My mom probably thought we were dorks.

PS. It worked though, we got a sleepover.

Halloween Costume...

Describe your best or worst Halloween costume ever. Use lots of details and explain why it was so awesome or lame.

Last year i had a really LAME costume. I was a witch, which is not very original in the first place, and it was a stupid costume besides. I had a tiny little pointed black hat, a black school shirt some black shorts and black boots. SOOOOOOOOO boring.

The only even partly somewhat exciting thing about my costume was that i took some black face paint and made a star around my eye. it helped a little. although when i washed it off that night, one of my eyebrows was really black cuz the paint wouldnt come off. So my eyebrows looked retarded.

So the reason my costume was so lame is because it was a boring typical idea and the costume was so simple that it wasnt cool at all.

Top Ten Teen Books

The only one I have read is Breaking Dawn. I actually only skimmed through it. but i got the main idea. I guess it should be in the top ten thing. Alot of people are pretty much obsessed with the twilight series. Just so you know I AM NOT. My mother is. But not me.

I guess i liked it. But people made way too big a deal about it. I only read the series so that I would know what everyone was talking about. It had a pretty interesting story. I think i would have liked it better if people hadnt been like "oh my gosh Twilight is the most amazing thing ever you have to read it!" It was too big of a buildup. But like I said, it should be in the top ten becuz it was so widely read by people. And Stephanie Mayer is a good writer too. good for her, and good for all the other top ten books, but I havent ever even heard of all of them except Breaking Dawn. I guess im not a good example of a typical teenager.

Edgar Allen Poe :(

It seems like reading Edgar Allan Poe stories around Halloween is a rite of passage for students in English classes. He wrote poems such as "The Raven" and "Annabel Lee" and stories like "The Tell-Tale Heart", "The Black Cat", "The Fall of the House of Usher", "The Cask of Amontillado", "The Masque of the Red Death", "The Pit and the Pendulum", etc.If you have read Poe stories before, which ones have you read and what do you remember of them? Did you like them? How scary/creepy were they? Share your memories of you or teachers reading the works of Edgar Allan Poe.If you have not read Poe or don't remember, describe to me what you expect from a classic horror writer? What kinds of stories do you think we'll be reading? Have you ever read scary stories?

last year we were supposed to read one of his stories. it was something about a man and he had to stay in this place for a really long time and then this person like, died or something. then he left before it was over by like one day. Maybe that wasnt even Edgar Alen Poe. Yah i think that was somebody else. But Im sure iver read SOMETHING of his.

I tried to read his stuff once. i really did. But i just didnt really get it. I think i was supposed to be like really scared, but i wasnt. I think im missing something here. Or maybe im just really brave.... jk. Im really not. at all.

So i think I would rather not read his stories. The raven i think we were supposed to read like 3 years ago for class, but I didnt relly understand, and what i DID understand, was really stupid. There was like this talking raven sitting on a wall and saying nevermore over and over? whoopdee doo. So i think thats all i have to say. i hope i made my point.

Pet Perspective

"How do you keep making the lights go on and off?" your pet might wonder.Write about you doing something in your house...from a pet's point of view.

Well i dont have a pet but here goes:

"*Bark bark*. Oh my oh my. I do wonder why Those silly old humans use those pointy little meatal things just to eat their food. Whats wrong with just eating straight out of the bowl? wouldnt it be sooooo much easier than putting the bite on the pointy thing, *bark* then lifting it up then putting it in their mouth? *bark*You cant get the satisfaction of getting a really BIG delicious bite if you are detained by the use of the little meatal stick. *Bark* I dont think i'll ever understand those ignorant little humans who insist on such an idiotic utinsel. *BARK*

Suspicious Secrets

Have you ever known a secret that you thought you should tell? Did you tell? If you've never experienced this, what do you think it would be like to know a secret that you think is dangerous?

I have had a secret that i shouldnt tell... Telling it would have been fatal to several somewhat innocent people. Their very lives rested on the tip of my tounge..... i feel so powerful!!

Of course i am a little worried. What if i accidentaly told? Wouldnt that be like manslaughter or something?? After all, it would be my fault. Im the one who told the secret resulting in their ultimate doom. Geez im kinda scared now.

I hope you all know im totally kidding. I have no death defying secret just aching to be told. If i did though, i would be a little bit frightened. Alot. Ok thats it bye!!

Beautiful Skunks

Have you ever studied a skunk's eyes? Write about some item you find beauty in that many others might not.

I think that something really beautiful is........ a trash can. They really are pretty cool. Theyre like all black and they have the swingy lids. and they roll. That is pretty intense.

I cannot honestly say that i like the smell of the nasty garbage that lies within those shiny black walls. But they walls themselves fascinate me.

Trash Cans, though mocked at times, are not only interesting, but also important. Without trash cans, we would have nowhere to put our trash. And we would stink. and our houses would stink. And millions of trash collectors world wide would be out of work.

We must all learn to apreciate the glorious hollow boxes, the trash can.

Romeo's P.O.V.

Write a journal from the perspective of Romeo, Juliet, Friar Laurence or Nurse. It should take place after the end of Act II when Romeo and Juliet have been secretly married. Remember, you ARE this person writing what they would be thinking and feeling at this time. 3 PARAGRAPHS!

Dear Diary,
I am SO totally HAPPY!! I have finally married the one and only TRUE love of my life, Juliet. *sigh* Let me say her oh-so-LOVELY name again. Juliet. Juuuuliet. JULIET!! I cant get over how much i love her! Juliet. Juliet and Romeo. OOh I like the sound of that! Juliet and Romeo. Romeo and Juliet. Mr and Mrs Romeo and Juliet. LOVE IT!

As you can probably tell, I'm just a little bit excited about this whole thing. What a wonderful wedding it was.... not many people came, but even if there was a crowd of a thousand people, i wouldnt have even noticed. My eyes saw only the lovely Juliet.

I am still a little nervous about all this though. How are we EVER going to tell our parents. Hmmm.... That should be a nice conversation. Hi Mom and Dad! Soo..... Guess what I did this weekend? nah, maybe i sould tell them straight out. Hey Parents! I married the daughter of your most hated rivals! HAve a nice day! nah. Well whatever i do i hope Juliet will be ok. Well i better go.

Fate

9th grade:Do you believe in Fate? Are there certain things in life that, once set in motion, are inevitable; things that cannot be stopped once they are started? The story of Romeo and Juliet implies that the path of their love and what happens to them is part of Fate's plan. Do you think this is possible?

I think I believe in fate, but also fate can change. Because I just think thats dramatic. Like someones fate can be set in motion, and fate can decree their death, but then fate can dramaticaly be altered like in movies and stuff. Oh wow that sounds intense.

Meaning fate could have somthing elses planned, but by and accident fates whole path can be changed. Like in Romeo and Juliet. Fate coulf have said they would never meet but Romeo acctidentally saw her and fate took a turn for the better. or the worst depending on how you look at it. Actually i dont know what Romeo and Juliet would have rather had happen. Them never have met, or having met, then dying because of it. Does that make sence?

So I think its very possible that there is such a thing as fate and it does have a plan. but the paths of fate are constantly changeing. I know that makes it sound like fate is pretty useless, and thats probably true, but its still a cool thought I think.

Juliet's P.O.V.

Juliet:

Dear Diary,
Ooh Im so excited for the party mother and father are planning for tonight! I can hardly wait to meet Paris. (He's the man mother and father wish me to consider marrying) I do hope he is handsome.
I wonder what I shall wear? I believe i should like to wear my turquoise silk gown with the shimmering long skirt. Perhaps with My glittery silver shawl. Thats sure to impress everyone.

I can hardly wait for the party to begin! From what mother has told me, Paris seems like a perfect dream... I do hope he is. Mother says he's a perfect gentleman. And father likes his family. It would seem we are the perfect match. Although, i do feel kinda funny about this whole thing. I havent really ever met this man. What if i dont like him? what will mother and father think of me?
Well i certainly hope he is simply wonderful. I should like him to be. Well, I do believe i should be getting ready for the party now!

True Love....

9th grade:Define true love. Do you believe it exists?(Hint: have you ever seen it? give an example. Why do you believe/not believe in it?)

Sure I believe it true love exists. Why do you think all these books and movies and songs focus on it so much. There has to be some truth to it if they are going to all that trouble writing about it. And I'm sure ive seen it. Its all around us. Love is all around.

Im not exactly sure how to define true love. Perfectly true love shouldnt need to be defined. Love is a crazy thing you know.

Why I believe in love is because I think its a great reason for living. It seems so exciting. If love didnt exist, the word would be empty. Emotionless. Full of hate and misery. Love it the thing that keeps us alive. Thank you that is my thoughts.

SUPERPOWER

8th AND 9th grade:If you had one superpower, what would it be and why? (Hint: describe exactly what your power would be, why you would want that one, what you would use your power for, etc. Would you be good or evil? Would you use it just for fun or for a good cause?)

If I could have one superpower, I would probably want the power to fly. I know its not a very original idea but it would be really cool. WAIT. I changed my mind. I would want the one power that i dont know really how to describe. Its that one power where you can change that way you look so you can look like someone else. That would be really fun.

I would be able to do a ton of cool stuff. Because you would never know who I really was. I could trick everyone and make them confused.

I would probably definatly use my power for fun. If I tried to use it for a good cause I would probably mess it all up. So I'll just have fun with it.

Shakespeare... WhoopdeeDoo

9th Grade: What comes to your mind when you hear the words, "Now we're going to read Shakespeare!" Do you cringe in fear? Do you giggle with glee? What past experiences have you had with Shakespeare to make you react the way you do?

When I hear 'we are going to read Shakespeare', I cannot honestly say my reaction is a joyful one. Good for Shakespeare and all, but I cant understand a word he says! I know that he's supposed to be such a great playwright and his works are masterpieces, but I would rather read something useful and entertaining. What's the point of reading a long boring passage when that time could be better spent reading something exciting. And I'm sure his work is exciting. Although it would appeal to a larger audience if it could be understood and make sence.

In the past I have read and performed a few of Shakespeare's plays in my drama classes. I did not enjoy that little unit of class. Its really hard to act out a character that speaks in such a unfamiliar way.

Another reasoning for my unpassionate responce to Shakespear is he seemed so... strange. I mean, he wor a tutu around his neck! Someone who does that must have someone seriously wrong with him. Thats all thank you.
